Well, that’s embarrassing… What NOT to do with AI tools

Yes, AI is great. It really feels like magic.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s get something straight:

* Everyone is using it.

* Marketing or AI inexperience results in avoidable, and sometimes embarrassing, mistakes.

* These mistakes can have dire consequences in the long run.

And that's what I’m here for. Here’s a flash guide on what NOT to do with AI tools.

Don’t rely on it for SEO. Everyone is using SEO optimization tools, but SERPs are going to catch up very quickly. If everyone is using the same optimization, and if that's 99% artificial, it's most likely that SERPs will be rewarding content that provides more in-depth opinions, value, and insight. Long term, your content will need to strike a delicate balance between something generic and something that actually packs in value and commitment to the reader.

Check your facts. This is a well-known fact, and yet people still fall for it. AI tools make up data, events, documents, and even links that don’t exist. You need to triple-check every output that it provides you with to make sure that you're not talking nonsense. Don't be the guy who got caught in court citing precedents that didn't exist.

Check your tone. AI tools have a very distinctive tone, and that’s a dead giveaway - even if you tell them to write in a friendly or formal way. Don't let AI tools set your voice and tone; that is something that needs to be dictated by you, based on your marketing strategy, style, target market, and target persona.

Don't plagiarize. AI is the result of an intricate puzzle of content that it finds online. If you check the average AI-generated content, it will be about 87% plagiarized. There are services that detect and remove plagiarism, but they're not good enough yet. They don’t have context and may completely skew what you meant to say. That brings us to our fifth and final point:

AI tools can’t think for themselves. AI cannot create brand new ideas, insights, and opinions since it only has been trained on information that has existed in the past. If you want to stand out in a sea of generic content, you need to make sure that originality comes through in your final result.

I'm not saying don't use AI content. I'm saying use it in moderation. Keep your eye on the prize: attention, interest, convincing, conversion. That’s how you build an empire 💪
